Weekend Show – Darrell Fletcher & Josef Schachter – Commodities 2025 Recap and 2026 Outlook: Silver Mania, Metal Rotation & an Oil Rebound
The first KE Report Weekend Show of 2026 sets the stage for a year that could look very different across commodities and energy markets. The show explores how precious metals captured investor attention after a volatile end to 2025, why sentiment toward hard assets appears to be shifting, and what that could mean as the new year unfolds. The conversation then pivots to oil and natural gas, examining how a weak commodity tape contrasted with resilient equity performance and why select opportunities may be emerging beneath the surface. Overall, the show focuses on big-picture trends, market psychology, and how investors might think about positioning for 2026 amid ongoing volatility and changing fundamentals.
- Segment 1 & 2 – Darrell Fletcher, Managing Director of Commodities at Bannockburn Capital Markets, joins the KE Report Weekend Show to break down the explosive 2025 performance in metals – led by gold then silver – discussing fundamentals versus momentum, valuation shifts toward hard assets, index rebalancing volatility, and what these historic moves could mean for commodities heading into 2026.

If Trump gets control of Venezuela’s heavy oil to use in America’s refineries he won’t need Canadian crude, with no pipeline outlet to the coast our country will be in dire straits. That will be a monumental disaster for Canada. DT
I think getting some oil type investments might be timely. Exxon and Chevron come to mind as they apparently have their own military force to make their oil discoveries.
Chevron never left VZ. XOM and Conoco used to be there and could return quickly. I feel this will end badly. Bring back the Good Neighbor policy.
They probably need to upgrade everything or rehab. In any event, I think Exxon probably had some concerns that Venezuela would screw with their offshore field near Guayana as It was threatened by Maduro (sp) (not that he could act aggressively without retribution. Be that as it may, Venezuela supposedly has the 2nd largest oil pool in the World and the US probably isn’t self sufficient. I guess purchasing stuff you need is an outdated concept. (I wonder how much petroleum it takes to physically steal oil).
Venezuela has the largest supply of oil in the World. DT
Chevron bought Hess to join XOM in those huge offshore Guiana oilfields which Maduro was claiming for VZ. Don’t mess with Chevron and Exxon who are now based in Houston.
Humble Oil…
This is about …. CHINA AND SILVER….
China wants the oil… US wants the silver….
There is a big gold deposit in Venezuela that was proven up by a CDN junior explorer about 15 years ago, it holds more than 11 million ounces of high grade gold. The Socialist’s under Hugo Chavez denied them the necessary permits to develop this resource and eventually kicked them out of Venezuela. It might see the light of day with a change in government. DT
Interesting….
You’re probably talking about Crystallex. The ticker was KRY on the TSX. That should’ve been a warning to all buyers.
Yes Matthew, it was Crystallex. It was a funeral play. I had a look at it but never bought in, a lot of investors lost big on Crystallex. The writing was on the wall for all to see. DT

Robotic technology is moving so fast, technology is creating a new society, the humans will owe nothing, own nothing, and be happy! LOL! DT 🤣🤣🤣
Am I right in assuming that soon there will be a lot of cheap Venezuelan oil will come to the markets? How long will it take to reignite those former Us oil assets there?
